How does keeping a journal help students in their learning

05 July 2019

Journal writing is a feature in think! Mathematics that allows students to revisit, filter, refine, and extend ideas. Teachers should encourage students to write journals daily or at least once every chapter.

When students look back on what they have written over the course of a chapter or over a year, they might be able to make connections and see how they have improved in their ability to communicate mathematical ideas.

A mathematics journal that students can write is found at the end of every chapter. Read about the different types of journals here.
